1 day course £120 Make a tall and sturdy plant support; great for getting some instant height in the garden. Choose from a small, medium or large support, depending on your space. If there’s time, you can also make a matching bird feeder.

This one-day course is for beginners and gardeners! A willow plant support makes excellent instant “tree” for the back of a border, or a gap filler anywhere in the garden. They can sit in a pot on the paved area or by the front door. A plant support can also make a great base for outdoor Christmas decorations; dressed with fairy lights and evergreen foliage - an outdoor festive welcome! And also wonderful gifts. You will learn various techniques:
- Selecting the right uprights and weavers
 - Learning the basic pairing weave
 - Spiraling technique
 - Controlling and shaping your structure
 - Finishing flourishes that make your support your own
 
Course Tutor: Karen Lawrence
Karen is a basket-maker based in Suffolk. Having completed the City and Guilds Basketmaking course at City Lit in 2013, she now mainly works with willow and rush, but loves experimenting with all manner of materials. She takes great pleasure in repairing old baskets and teaches regularly at many locations. Karen is a Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers.
