What you will make This lovely basket is useful around the home or in the garden; it makes an ideal gardener's basket for tools or collecting produce. Lisa has adapted the design of this basket to make it easy enough for beginners to make in a day. If you have time, you can make it taller if you like.

How you will make it
Selecting your your willow - what to look for
Making the base first
Weave the sides of the basket using waling and pairing weaves
Make the offset border ( called the Stanislaw border)
Attach the wooden handle
Meet your tutor: Lisa Dear
Lisa makes functional and sculptural basketry, predominantly using willow but also incorporating materials gathered from the Sussex woodlands where she spends most of the year. Originally self taught she is guided by traditional British and European basketry techniques and contemporary influences. She finds inspiration in the quiet of the natural world where she spends extensive periods of time, living closely with the land, in long conversation with nature. She regularly sells, teaches and exhibits in Sussex.
